Jennifer Baylis
Jennifer Baylis is a Missoula figurative painter working in oil. She received her BA in Art from UCLA In 1997 with an emphasis on drawing and painting. Her current work deals with life’s transitions and passages and their impact on the inner lives of women. She seeks to express nuances of moods, feelings and mind states while hinting at spiritual themes. Her paintings have evolved over time as she worked to develop a personal style that is both timeless and true to the moment, a style that incorporates classical painting techniques and the Realist method of alla prima. As inspiration flows from her life’s experiences her goal is to elicit emotions from the viewer and to invite them into the space of each painting and from there to reflect on transcendent moments whether they be expressed in quiet contemplation or a boldness of gaze.
