Cool Futures First Friday Art Show

Calling all eco-minded visionaries! As part of a Missoula County, City of Missoula, and Climate Smart Missoula extreme heat campaign called “Stay Cool Missoula”, we want to see your vision of a “cool” Missoula: a community that has invested in its people, ecosystems, and infrastructure to protect against increasingly hot, dry, and smoky summer weather. Missoula might not always be top of mind when we think of “extreme heat”, but it is one of the top 5 extreme weather hazards for our county and the number one weather-related killer across the nation. Science shows us that, given climate change, our number of hot and humid days above 90 degrees will continue to increase every year.

A cool future is one where we are resilient to extreme heat and live our lives in ways that reduce the impacts of climate change. Think of a community with more trees and green spaces, community connection and strong relationships with neighbors, cool clean indoor air, public services, and inclusive river access. Let your imagination run wild! What would your “Cool Missoula” look like? Show us your vision for a cool future!
