Apply to the Beyond the Mountains Fund!

With the generosity of The Andy Warhol Foundation, Tinworks has been invited to join as a Regional Regranting Program partner in distributing grants to artists and collectives for projects that chart new creative territory in our Montana arts community. In our inaugural year, the fund will award one $10,000 and ten grants of $5,000 to support artist-led visual arts projects across Montana, expanding access to resources, creating new opportunities for artistic growth, and investing in creative work that reflects and serves the diverse communities of Montana.

Who should apply?
Individual artists, collaborative groups living in Montana.
Priority given to Indigenous artists, emerging artists, and mid-career artists working in the region.
Established artists are encouraged to apply if seeking support to explore new, experimental, or previously underdeveloped areas of their practice.
Nonprofits and commercial entities are ineligible.

In a nutshell, what are we looking for?
Visual arts projects which have artistic impact, community engagement and impact, are feasibly within the grant period of one year, and demonstrate innovation and risk taking.
Projects that are otherwise difficult to fund due to nature of the project or proposals that do not fit within traditional museum or gallery systems.
Public presentations of projects which are inclusive and accessible, as well as free and open to the public.
Proposals that have the potential to expand the visibility and reach of the artist’s work to new audiences.
Please visit the our website for more details on grant parameters.

I encourage anyone interested in applying to look at previous grantees and examples of their public presentations by clicking on the individual program partners through the Regional Regranting portal. This resource is very helpful in seeing the unique ways projects have been presented outside traditional gallery settings and involved their communities. Please also note the information located in our frequently asked question section. Many of these queries were brought up during our first info session later last week. This is our first year participating in this program, and we appreciate your patience as we learn and implement this grant program.

Mark your calendars for submissions being due October 1st. We will have two more information sessions coming up, one online September 14 from 6-9pm, and another in-person at the Tinworks site September 20 from 6:30-9:30pm.

Tinworks Art is a nonprofit organization focused on connecting artists and audiences with meaningful, inclusive art experiences designed to welcome everyone.
