Christina Rice
Christina Rice is a mixed media Artist who grew up in the mountains and is currently based in Missoula, Montana. Christina studied Art at Montana State University in Bozeman, where she earned two simultaneous degrees – a B.F.A. in Fine Art with an emphasis in Drawing and a B.A. in English Literature. Inspired by the mountains and waterways of the West, Christina’s body of work has, until recently, exclusively explored our intrinsic human connection with nature via black and white line drawings on canvas depicting a variety of outdoor experiences, such as skiing, biking, hiking, and more. In 2019, she founded Alpine Line Art – a Montana business that offers black and white adventure line art in a variety of formats to inspire those who love the outdoors. The goal of this body of work is to explore the serene peace and unbridled joy that a life lived in nature can provide.
Christina’s artistic style is currently evolving to include more mixed media works in color. These pieces are more dense, intuitive, questioning, and complex. They center texture, line work, and allowing the medium itself to direct the outcome of the finished piece. Additionally, writing has entered her creative practice in recent years, specifically in the form of poetry. Needing a place to put these new riotous works in color, Christina created a second social media platform titled “Christina Rice Creations” where she hopes these mixed media pieces will find their voice and flourish. This is an exciting time for Alpine Line Art and for Christina Rice as an Artist, as her work is changing and growing in multiple creative directions at once!
