Spontaneous Construction

Calling all makers, creatives, and DIY enthusiasts!

Spontaneous Construction is a celebration of creative reuse, demonstrating that amazing, beautiful, functional – and totally rad – things are possible using reclaimed materials from Home ReSource!  Teams make this event what it is.

On Saturday, September 12th, teams will have 7 hours to create using anything from Home ReSource! The finished pieces help raise funds for Home ReSource’s community programs, diverting usable, compostable, and recyclable materials from the landfill and building a more vibrant, sustainable economy.  It’s a fun community event, and between 11 am and 4 pm, we’ll be joined by Dreamy’s Soft Serve and a pop-up tattoo site with our friends from Sleeping Giant. With treats from Bernice’s Bakery and lunch for all our teams, you don’t want to miss this fun only-in-Missoula event!

Teams are supported with an optional “SponCon 101” Zoom meeting in August (recorded for those who cannot attend), and a required safety meeting and pre-shop on the evening of Thursday, September 10. Home ReSource staff is also available to answer any/all questions at any time!

SponCon creations will be sold to the highest bidder at the Zero Waste Awards on October 3rd. Teams are invited back to celebrate with us as we recognize our partners in sustainability and crown the SponCon People’s Choice winner of 2026!
